New Zealand artists are working with a huge variety of textiles and fabrics. The NZ textile work featured in our online gallery ranges from silk scarves, quilts, kimono design, hand weaved woollen rugs, leather carvings to hand made paper.

Jan Clark hand paints silk scarves with permanent dyes in a free-form water-colour style. She draws her inspiration from the blues, purples and greens of the paua shell and the coastal landscape of the area where she lives.

Fleeting Design T-shirts started in 2002, when the owner, Deborah van Praagh began designing and making T-shirts for her daughter and her friends. As reaction was very positive she decided to turn the hobby into a business and now supplies 22 high-end fashion shops throughout New Zealand.
Her training as a Graphic Artist and teaching of Screen Printing and Art have enabled her to specialize in limited edition funky, high quality, hand-finished T-shirts for a select market. Her T-shirts make a fashion statement and always attract a positive reaction. Without doubt the humble T-shirt has come of age.

Patrick James Griffiths has unearthed a long forgotten skill and resurrected it in exquisite form, A child of the 70s, a craftsman of today, an actor, director and designer, Griffiths has perfected the art of leather carving and applied it to his own range of decadently intricate bags.

Sally Govorko is one of Australasia's outstanding Fabric Artists. Her background in clothing design lead into the work of silk, resulting in distinctive and impeccable work, a deep rich palette producing confident and diverse design. Her work has been sold and shown throughout NZ as well as in Australia, Japan and the USA, including S.O.F.A. in Chicago. Clients have included corporations, government agencies and many individuals world wide during the past 15 years.

Mandy Sunlight and Rouati Waata, a mother and daughter team make up "Ahurei Hokianga" - Uniquely Hokianga. With a total of nearly 40 years experience between them and the "toi-iho" registration (Maori mark of authenticity), they cover a wie range of Maori weaving styles, techniques and designs.
